Teaching Jobs on the Horizon in Arizona

Public education programs have suffered as much as any industry in our country’s current economy, but don’t everyone give up on pursuing those teaching degrees just yet — despite widespread layoffs, nineteen Arizona school districts have seen growth in student populations, signifying a demand for teachers and meaning that new hires (and rehires) may not be too far behind.
More than 7,400 teachers across Arizona have been told they may not have a job next school year, and with no approved state budget, school districts and teachers are in limbo.
But there could be hope on the horizon.

The AEA said its can’t be absolutely sure the districts are hiring, but there are likely more job prospects from districts that saw at least a 2 percent increase in student enrollment.
In the meantime, laid off teachers have been making connections both in real life and online, exploring their options and branching out into new occupational territory until the education industry recovers — and given new growth already, they might not have too long to wait.
