Guns on Campus - Are They Serious??

ARTICLE TOOLS

Attention college students - hold on to your holsters - Texas lawmakers are considering a bill that would allow faculty and students to carry firearms on campus.

Opponents say the new law could produce the same tragic circumstances that occurred at Virginia Tech when a lone gunman murdered 32 people and injured many others before taking his own life.

Representative Joe Driver authored the House bill and claims people licensed to carry firearms have received training on their use.

Members may review the House bill during the next few weeks. It must receive approval from the committee before it can be considered by the entire House and Senate. The bill is now being evaluated by the committee.

Though weapons are not currently allowed on campus, this bill would make it possible for students and faculty to be sufficiently armed. Does this actually sound like a good idea?? OK, so maybe for the faculty.
